Our Causes

Amina Tesfaye

Born in Zambia with a cleft palate, Amina Tesfaye faced daily challenges that many take for granted—eating, speaking, and even breathing properly. Her condition made it difficult for her to consume food safely, often leading to malnutrition and frequent illnesses. Beyond the physical struggles, Amina also experienced social barriers, as speech difficulties made communication challenging, affecting her confidence and interactions with others. Without access to specialized medical care in her region, her family feared that she would always struggle with these obstacles.

When our team learned about Amina’s case, we knew we could make a life-changing impact. Through our reconstructive surgery program, Amina received a successful cleft palate repair, giving her not only a functional smile but also a renewed sense of hope. Now, she can eat without difficulty, speak more clearly, and embrace life with confidence. Amina’s journey is a testament to the power of accessible surgical care—a single operation transformed her future, opening doors to education, friendships, and opportunities she never thought possible. Her story is just one example of how we are working to bring life-changing healthcare to those who need it most.

After a successful procedure and recovery, he regained his strength, mobility, and ability to work again. Now, Farid has returned to providing for his family, ensuring their stability and a brighter future.
